About Ms. Paula
I teach one subject, English, and I teach it from Grade 1 to Grade 12. I have taught it in three very different places: Toronto with the district school board, Quluaq School in Nunavut, and Echo Dene School in the Northwest Territories, where I later moved into school administration.
Teaching in small northern communities means one room holds a wide spread of reading levels, and you learn quickly how to build a lesson that works for all of them without leaving anyone behind or bored. My degrees are in English and school counselling from Mico University, and educational leadership from Western University.
My sessions are structured rather than loose. The student knows what we are doing, why we are doing it, and what comes next, because guessing at the plan is its own kind of stress.

I teach one subject, English, and I have taught it in Toronto, in Nunavut and in the Northwest Territories. Teaching the same subject to very different communities convinced me it is not really about the text. It is about whether a student can say what they think and then back it up.
