About Ms. Nusri
I earned my British Columbia teaching certificate in 1984, and my master's from UBC is in science education. Most recently I taught at Fraser Academy in Vancouver, an independent school for students with dyslexia and language based learning differences, and that is where much of what I do got sharpened.
I teach English from Grade 1 to Grade 12, biology from Grade 7 to Grade 10, and math, science and geography at the elementary level. What I actually hand a student is strategies: shortcuts for holding information, ways into a text, a method for starting a piece of writing when the page is blank.
Students leave my sessions taller than they arrived, and that is not decoration. A student who believes the next question is answerable will attempt it, and a student who attempts it learns something.

I have taught since 1984, and the most recent stretch was at a school built for students with dyslexia. That is where I stopped teaching content and started teaching strategy. A student with a way into a text can read anything. A student without one just reads the same page slower.
