About Mrs. Nat Lin
I studied neuroscience at the University of Toronto and dentistry at Tianjin Medical University before I trained as a teacher at Lakehead, and I registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in 2015. Arriving at teaching from science left me with one specific habit: I want to understand how this particular student's understanding is put together before I start changing it.
I teach English and math from Grade 1 to Grade 12, including Advanced Functions in Grade 11 and Grade 12, and I have taught in independent schools and academies around Toronto since 2015. Every child grows at a different pace, so patience here is not a soft quality, it is the method.
I do not move on while the step underneath is still shaky, however long that takes.
Why Mrs. Nat Lin teaches these subjects
I studied neuroscience and then dentistry before I trained as a teacher, and both taught me to understand how something is built before I start changing it. I teach English and math because they carry every other subject. If those two are shaky, everything downstream costs the student more effort than it should.
