About Ms. Lamour
I am two things at once, and it matters when a student is struggling. I registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in 2007 and added my French as a second language qualification in 2009. I am also a certified counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, with a master's in counselling from the Université de Saint-Boniface.
I taught at Toronto French School, then spent close to fifteen years at École Élémentaire Michaëlle Jean, and my specialism throughout was alternative learning. I teach French from Grade 1 to Grade 12, plus English, science and early math at the elementary level.
Sometimes the barrier in front of a student is the material. Often it is the fear that they cannot do the material. I am trained to tell those two apart.
Why Ms. Lamour teaches these subjects
I am a certified teacher and a certified counsellor at the same time. I teach French and the elementary subjects because those are the years when a difficulty either gets named or gets buried. My specialism has always been alternative learning, and the subject is usually only half of what is in the way.
