About Mr. Rodas
My first degree is an Honours Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Toronto, earned with high distinction. My Master of Teaching, also from U of T, is in intermediate science, biology and chemistry. I registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in 2025. Since 2023 I have worked in Toronto District School Board classrooms as a teaching assistant, at schools including Jesse Ketchum, Bloor Collegiate and Humberside Collegiate, and most recently as a substitute teacher at TDSB Virtual Secondary School, so I have already taught online inside the public system.
Alongside that I have tutored for four years, across math, science and English on the Ontario curriculum. I teach chemistry, biology and physics in Grades 11 and 12, plus Advanced Functions and Calculus and Vectors, and science, math and English from Grade 1. I keep every topic personal and applicable, because a student who cares about the question does most of the work of answering it.
Why Mr. Rodas teaches these subjects
I studied chemistry before I studied teaching, and chemistry is where biology and physics meet. The same idea explains a cell and a battery. That is why I teach the three sciences together rather than as three separate courses. My motto is that learning does not happen until a love for it is in the room, so I start with why a topic matters to the student before I get to the formula.
