About Ms. Damianidis
I registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in 2005, and I spent close to fifteen years teaching with the Peel District School Board. Since then I have taught at Mentor College and returned to Peel as a substitute at Greenbriar Middle School.
Two decades in front of mixed classes is the reason I do not have one method. Some students need the rule stated plainly. Others need to arrive at it themselves, and pushing the first approach onto the second student wastes everybody's hour. I teach math and science to Grade 9 and English to Grade 6, and I have worked with a wide range of learning needs throughout.
I say things in plain words. If a student cannot repeat the idea back to me in their own language, I have not explained it yet.
Why Ms. Damianidis teaches these subjects
Twenty years of mixed classrooms is exactly why I do not have one method. I teach math, science and English because I have watched the same student fly in one and stall in another for reasons that had nothing to do with ability. Finding that reason is the actual job.
