Students who know the math and want their test results to show it. Also students who learn fastest with someone watching their working while they do it, rather than marking it afterwards.
About Mr. Zhang
I teach one subject. Math, Grade 1 to Grade 9, and nothing else. I taught for three years with the Calgary Board of Education, at Ethel M. Johnson School, Hunting Hills High School and Buffalo Rubbing Stone School, and I tutored math for four years alongside that.
I earned my Alberta permanent professional certificate in 2022. My method is direct and it is not a secret: I work an example, we work one together, then you work one on your own while I watch. Watching is the part that matters, because it shows me where the thinking breaks instead of just showing me a wrong answer.
I want students comfortable being wrong in front of me. That is where the lesson actually is.
Why Mr. Zhang teaches these subjects
I teach math and nothing else, because one subject done properly beats five done adequately. Four years of tutoring alongside three in Calgary classrooms taught me the same thing every time. The wrong answer is never the problem. The step before it is.
