About Ms. Holm
My first degree from the University of Alberta was in music, and my second was in elementary education. I spent my classroom years at Suzuki Charter School in Edmonton, first full time and later as a substitute across its grades.
A Suzuki school teaches by listening, by small repeated steps, and with a parent who is part of the practice, and that is close to how I tutor. I break a skill down until the step is small enough to get right, then we repeat it until it stops being hard.
I teach English, math, science and geography from Grade 1 to Grade 6, so a single session can move between reading and numbers without changing teacher. I earned my Alberta teaching certificate in 2023.
Why Ms. Holm teaches these subjects
I trained as a musician first, and Suzuki teaching showed me that almost anything breaks down into a step small enough to get right. I teach the elementary subjects because those are the years the steps get built. Solid at Grade 3 makes Grade 7 a completely different experience.
